OUR WEBSITE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION - PLEASE BE PATIENT AND OUR SHOP WILL OPEN SOON !!
It all began with a knitting class and a lively chat about yarn shops. Wouldn’t it be delightful to open a yarn shop together? While it was still just an idea and a lovely lark to pursue, we found ourselves peeking into windows of vacant buildings in Castlegar. Of course, the perfect site presented itself on a corner of Columbia Avenue and persuaded us to think on this a little harder. Could we? Would we? Certainly, we should and we set about making it happen.
We collected old and cast off furniture and spent sunny days scraping and sanding and painting. We sourced suppliers, in Canada, in BC and in amazing local outlets. The building got painted, the signs made and we dressed our shop to present it to the community. And, we waited, with bated breath.
And, the community responded. With joy, with exuberance, with loyalty. We have spent many wonderful moments discussing yarn, admiring amazing pieces of work, sharing ideas in workshops.
It is a wonderful thing to be in a calm place, surrounded by lovely colour and texture and sharing your peace with like-minded lovers of all things fibre. We are so blessed.

Els loves colour and texture.
While she can do many things, her two passions are knitting and teaching. Come in and show Els your project, your plans, your predicament. She can help you decide what you need, set you on the right course and, certainly, admire what you’ve completed. She looks forward to meeting you and your creation!
Maxeen is Nordic Studio’s manager. She has a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, majoring in painting, and a certificate in office administration.
